Franny and Zooey.

I finished this little literary gem today on the train from Frankfurt. The story is actually tied to the first story from Nine Stories, which I fortunately read earlier this year. The dialogue in this story despite happening between individuals with rather different experiences than mine somehow feels very organic and honest. The events that transpire are really rather limited, but the book captures the strained, though immensely deep, relationships between these family members who are trying to keep it together in a world that seems to have a hard time understanding them and their experiences. So much is conveyed in each word and reaction, Salinger is truly a master.
